Race & Data Engineering

I have sat
in that seat.

Race engineering, telemetry and driver coaching from someone who raced LMP3 prototypes himself — from karting through Formula 3 to a class title in the Asian Le Mans Series. Today I engineer Lamborghini GT3 and Super Trofeo cars with Leipert Motorsport, and LMP3 prototypes in the European Prototype Cup. I know what the data says, and I know what the car feels like when it says it.

Services

What I bring to the pit wall

01 · Race engineering

On the car

Setup work across the weekend: balance, tyre window, reaction to track evolution and weather. Radio, strategy and stint calls during the race.

02 · Data engineering

On the data

Telemetry analysis in MoTeC: lap overlays, braking points, traction on exit, tyre degradation. Channels turned into decisions, not into pretty charts.

03 · Driver coaching

With the driver

Debriefs that make sense to the person who has to drive the next stint — because I have been that person. Especially valuable for Bronze and gentleman drivers.

04 · Own tools

Live cockpit & analysis

I build my own analysis software: a live cockpit during the session, deep analysis for FP, qualifying and the race. Answers while others are still exporting files.

05 · Test days

Preparation

Test programme, baseline setup, clean back-to-back comparisons — so the race weekend is not spent on groundwork.

06 · Remote support

From a distance

Session data comes to me, analysis goes back to the team. Sensible for tight budgets or overseas rounds where travel does not pay for itself.

07 · 3D design

In CAD

Trained 3D design engineer: brackets, adapters and small parts go straight into CAD and come off my own 3D printer. When a part is missing at the track or an idea needs to become hardware fast, I do not wait on lead times.

Where the work happens

Between the wall and the data screen. A stint call, a tyre pressure, a braking marker changed by five metres — the weekend is decided in those details, not in the debrief afterwards.

Software development

Software I write myself

I am not only an engineer at the track — for some time now I have also been building the software behind it, for my own motorsport work and for external clients. If you do not know me yet: that combination of race engineer and developer is exactly the difference.

01 · Motorsport

My own analysis tools

The analysis software I run on the pit wall is my own: a live cockpit during the session and deep analysis of the MoTeC telemetry afterwards. I build the tool around the question in front of me, not around someone else's export format.

02 · Client projects

Custom software

I also build software for clients outside racing — for example a web application that replaces an Excel-based personnel-planning process with a proper system, such as for a public-sector employment provider. The same engineering discipline, applied to a different problem.

03 · Approach

Delivered to fit

From a self-contained single-file tool to a fully hosted web application — delivery follows your infrastructure: in-house, on your own servers, or run by me. What counts is robust, low-maintenance software that simply works day to day.

Why me

An engineer who has raced the car

“Most engineers can tell a driver he is losing two tenths in turn 4. Far fewer can tell him what to do with his hands and his eyes to get them back.”

I spent years on both sides of the pit wall. I raced karts, Formula König, Formula BMW and Formula 3, worked with Lola on their Formula 3 car, engineered other people's races — and then went back racing in LMP3 for six seasons, including a class championship in the Asian Le Mans Series.

That mix is the point. I read the data like an engineer and translate it into things a driver can actually feel and execute. Fewer graphs, more lap time.

Career

Cockpit, drawing board, pit wall

1995 – 2002

Karting & Formula König

Where it started. Racecraft learned the old-fashioned way — wheel to wheel, on a budget.

2003 – 2005

Formula BMW ADAC

Two seasons in Germany's premier junior single-seater series.

2005 – 2006

German Formula 3 Cup

A season in Formula 3, followed by development work with Lola on their Formula 3 chassis together with my team HS Technik — the winter that turned me into an engineer.

2005 – 2015

Race engineer & driver coach

Straight from the Lola development onto the engineering side: engineering and coaching with GU Racing in Formula BMW, then SuperLeague Formula (2008–2010), and later Inter Europol Competition in Formula 3.

2016 – 2021

Back in the car · LMP3

Titles & 3× runner-up

A return to racing after ten years away — with the biggest driving results of that era: V de V Endurance Series champion in 2016, LMP3 class champion in the 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series and three-time LMP3 runner-up in the European Le Mans Series (2018, 2019 and 2020) — all with Inter Europol Competition. Rated Bronze for most of that period.

2022

Team manager · Prototype Cup Germany

Running Inter Europol Competition's Ligier JS P320 programme — a podium at the very first event, at Spa-Francorchamps.

2023

Team manager · Michelin Le Mans Cup

Managing Inter Europol Competition's Michelin Le Mans Cup campaign — the same organisation that has since won the LMP2 class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times (2023, 2025 and 2026). Working inside a team of that standard sets the bar for how a programme should be run.

2024 – today

Lamborghini · GT3 & Super Trofeo

Race and data engineering on Lamborghini machinery with Leipert Motorsport — Huracán GT3 and Super Trofeo, in Europe and Asia. This is where my own telemetry software earns its keep, session after session.

January 2026

24H Dubai · GTX class win

Lead engineer for Leipert Motorsport's Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 at the Michelin 24H Dubai: 573 laps, no contact, no damage, no strategic errors — and the GTX class win. Twenty-four hours is where preparation and discipline get audited.

2026 – today

Engineer · European Prototype Cup

Back in LMP3, now on the engineering side, with Aust Motorsport — running prototypes alongside the Lamborghini GT programme.

Today

MH Race-Engineering

Race and data engineering, driver coaching and my own analysis tools — alongside running a structural engineering practice, which is where the habit of trusting numbers comes from.

Series

Where I have worked

LMP3

European Le Mans Series

Three-time LMP3 runner-up (2018, 2019 & 2020) with Inter Europol Competition — as driver and engineer. Endurance racing, stint strategy, traffic management.

LMP3

Asian Le Mans Series

Class champion 2018/19. Compressed weekends, extreme conditions, a different tyre world.

GT

Lamborghini Super Trofeo · Europe

One-make GT racing at its most competitive: the setup window is narrow and the data decides.

GT

Lamborghini Super Trofeo · Asia

Same car, different continent — heat, humidity and tyre degradation as the main opponents.

GT3

GT3

Balance of Performance, pro-am pairings, and the engineering discipline that comes with both.

LMP3

Prototype Cup Germany

Team management side of the pit wall, including a podium on debut.

LMP3

Michelin Le Mans Cup

Team manager in 2023. Endurance racing on the ACO ladder, run to Le Mans standards.

LMP3

European Prototype Cup

Current: engineering LMP3 prototypes with Aust Motorsport.

24H

24H Series · Endurance

GTX class winner at the 24H Dubai 2026 as lead engineer. Twenty-four-hour races reward preparation, not heroics.
